Advertiser Disclosure

How we make money

SolarSavingsCompare.com is a free service for homeowners. We don't charge you to use our calculator, get matched with installers, or read our guides. We make money in two ways:

  • Lead fees: When you submit a quote request through the Service, we transmit your information to one or more pre-screened solar installers ("Installer Partners") in your area. Installer Partners pay us a fee for each lead we transmit, regardless of whether you ultimately purchase a solar system.
  • Affiliate referrals: Some links on the Service (for example, to specific installer brands or financing providers) may be affiliate links. If you click those links and complete an action (such as signing up or making a purchase), we may receive a commission, at no additional cost to you.

How this affects what you see

We want you to make a fully informed decision. Here's what advertiser relationships do and don't influence:

What advertiser relationships influence

  • Which installers we transmit your lead to. We work with a pre-screened network of Installer Partners. We do not transmit to installers outside of this network. Your lead is matched based on your location, property, and the installer's coverage area, capacity, and quality criteria — not solely on which installer pays us the most.
  • Order and placement of installer brands in editorial content. Where we discuss specific installer brands or financing providers, prominent placement may correlate with whether that brand is an Installer Partner or affiliate.

What advertiser relationships do NOT influence

  • Solar cost estimates, calculator outputs, and Google Solar API data. These are independent of any installer relationship. The estimates you see in our calculator come from Google's Solar API based on your specific roof — not from installers.
  • Editorial content in our guides. Educational content (cost guides, financing comparisons, how-solar-works explainers) reflects our best understanding of the industry and is not influenced by any specific installer's preferences.
  • Whether to recommend solar at all. We tell you honestly that solar is not appropriate for every home and circumstance. We won't tell you solar is a good idea if the math doesn't support it.

We are not a recommendation service

SolarSavingsCompare.com is a comparison marketplace, not a recommendation service. We do not endorse, recommend, or rank individual Installer Partners. The Installer Partners you are matched with based on your quote request are not necessarily the best installers in your area — they are installers who have met our screening criteria and who service your location.

You should evaluate any Installer Partner independently before signing a contract, including checking licences, insurance, customer reviews, and warranty terms.

How we screen Installer Partners

Before adding an installer to our network, we typically review:

  • Active state contractor licence(s) for the jurisdictions they serve
  • Business reputation, including customer reviews and BBB rating (where available)
  • Years in business and installation volume
  • Warranty terms offered (equipment and workmanship)
  • Compliance posture, including TCPA practices and consumer-complaint history

Screening is not a guarantee of installer performance, pricing, or customer service. Disputes about installer work are between you and the installer — see our Terms of Service.

Solar cost and savings estimates

The cost estimates, savings projections, payback periods, and federal tax credit amounts shown on this Service are estimates based on:

  • Google Solar API data for your specific address (roof orientation, sunshine, shading)
  • Default electricity rate inflation and panel degradation assumptions
  • Federal Investment Tax Credit (Section 25D ended December 31, 2025; Section 48E continues for third-party-owned solar)
  • National or state-average installation pricing

Actual prices, financing terms, savings, and incentive eligibility vary by installer, equipment, your tax situation, financing terms, utility rates, and other factors. Always verify pricing and terms with a qualified installer and consult a qualified tax or financial advisor before making financial decisions.
