Terms of Service

Last updated: 2025-05-16

Plain-English summary

SolarSavingsCompare.com is a free comparison service that connects homeowners with pre-screened solar installers. We are not a solar installer. By using the site, you agree to the terms below, including an arbitration clause and class-action waiver (you can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first use).

This summary is informational only — the full terms below govern your use of the site.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legal agreement between you and SolarSavingsCompare.com ("we", "us", "our", or the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, including by submitting a quote request, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

2. What the Service does

The Service is a comparison marketplace. We collect information about your home and solar interest, and we use it to match you with one or more pre-screened solar installation companies ("Installer Partners") who service your area. We share your information with those Installer Partners so they can contact you with quotes and information.

We are not a solar installer, solar broker, contractor, lender, financial advisor, tax advisor, or insurance broker. We do not design, sell, finance, install, or service solar systems. We do not provide individualised advice. We do not guarantee any particular price, savings, system size, financing terms, or outcome.

The estimates, calculator outputs, and content on the Service (including system sizes, costs, savings projections, payback periods, and tax-credit information) are general informational estimates, are not binding offers, and depend on data sources and assumptions that may not reflect your actual situation. Always verify pricing and terms with a qualified Installer Partner and consult a qualified tax or financial advisor before making financial decisions.

When you submit a quote request, you expressly authorise us, our Installer Partners, and their agents to contact you at the phone number and email address you provide. This includes contact by means of automatic telephone dialing systems, artificial or prerecorded voice messages, text messages (SMS/MMS), and emails, even if your number is on a state or federal Do-Not-Call list.

You understand that:

  • Consent is not a condition of any purchase
  • Message and data rates may apply to any text messages you receive
  • You may receive contact from multiple Installer Partners
  • You may revoke consent at any time using the methods in section 4

By providing your phone number and submitting a quote request, you certify that you are the regular user of that number, that providing the number does not violate any third-party rights, and that you have the authority to consent to receiving the communications described above.

4. Opting out and revoking consent

You can opt out of contact and revoke your consent at any time by:

  • Replying "STOP" to any text message we or an Installer Partner sends you
  • Asking the calling party to remove you from their list during any phone call
  • Following the unsubscribe link in any marketing email
  • Submitting a request via our privacy rights form
  • Emailing us at info@solarsavingscompare.com

Once we receive an opt-out request, we will stop initiating new contact. Note that Installer Partners are independent companies — your opt-out request to us does not automatically apply to them, though we will forward opt-out requests where required by law and we will not transmit your information to additional Installer Partners.

5. Your obligations

When using the Service, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and your own personal, non-commercial use (or on behalf of a property you own or have authority over)
  • Not use the Service to submit fraudulent, duplicative, automated, or test inquiries
  • Not reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service
  • Not impersonate any other person or submit information about a property or phone number that is not yours or you lack authority to provide
  • Not use the Service to harm minors or post unlawful content

6. Installer Partners are independent

Installer Partners are independent businesses. They are not our employees, agents, or affiliates. We do not control, supervise, or guarantee their work, quotes, pricing, marketing practices, products, services, or compliance with applicable laws. We exercise reasonable diligence in screening Installer Partners but make no representations or warranties about them.

Any contract you enter into with an Installer Partner is solely between you and them. We are not a party to that contract and have no liability arising from it. Disputes about installer work, pricing, service quality, or warranty must be resolved directly with the Installer Partner.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the Service — including text, graphics, logos, calculator outputs, guides, and code — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may view and print content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or use the content commercially without our prior written permission.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or accurate.

We do not warrant that solar will be appropriate for your home, that any quote, savings figure, or system size will reflect actual prices or outcomes, that any incentive or tax credit will apply to you, or that any Installer Partner will accept your inquiry, provide a quote, or perform satisfactory work.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES arising from or relating to your use of the Service or your dealings with Installer Partners. This includes (without limitation) damages for lost profits, lost savings, lost opportunity, damage to reputation, or loss of data.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SolarSavingsCompare.com and its operators, affiliates, contractors, and Installer Partners from any third-party claim arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law; (d) information you submit that is inaccurate, fraudulent, or about a person you do not have authority to represent; or (e) any contract or dispute between you and an Installer Partner.

11. Arbitration and class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.

11.1 Binding arbitration. You and SolarSavingsCompare.com agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service ("Dispute") will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except as set out in section 11.4.

11.2 Class-action waiver. YOU AND WE EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO BRING OR PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION, CLASS ARBITRATION, REPRESENTATIVE ACTION, OR CONSOLIDATED ACTION. The arbitrator may award relief only on an individual basis and may not consolidate claims of multiple persons.

11.3 Opt-out window. You may opt out of the arbitration agreement in section 11.1 and the class-action waiver in section 11.2 within thirty (30) days of your first use of the Service. To opt out, send a written notice including your name, email, and a clear statement that you are opting out of the arbitration agreement to info@solarsavingscompare.com. Opting out does not affect any other provision of these Terms.

11.4 Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court for Disputes within the small-claims court's jurisdiction. Either party may also seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property rights, prevent unauthorised access to the Service, or address violations of section 5.

11.5 Location and fees. Arbitration will be conducted in a mutually convenient US location, or remotely where the AAA rules allow. The AAA's Consumer Arbitration Rules govern filing fees. We will reimburse your filing fee for arbitration if your claim is for less than US$10,000, unless the arbitrator determines the claim is frivolous.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any Dispute are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware.

13. Modifications to these Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. If a change is material, we will give reasonable notice — for example by email (if you have submitted one to us), by a banner on the Service, or by an update notice on this page. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modification constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to a modification, you must stop using the Service.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 16) will survive.

15. Other terms

Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement.

Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. The unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms or your rights under them without our written consent. We may assign these Terms freely.

Notices. Notices to you may be given by email (if provided) or by posting on the Service. Notices to us must be sent to info@solarsavingscompare.com.
